When I was a little girl, I remember my sister asked me how I had such long hair and my answer was: “because I eat cabbage.” True or not, I still eat & love cabbage but my hair is now very short. I recently shared with you how I cut my own hair and in today’s post more than just show you the before and after results of the Brilliant Brunette® Visibly Brighter™ Subtle Lightening Shampoo, Brilliant Brunette® Visibly Brighter™ Subtle Lightening Conditioner & Brilliant Brunette® Visibly Brighter™ In-Shower Treatment. I want to share two ways I style my short hair.

For the past two weeks I only washed my hair with the John Frieda’s Brilliant Brunette® Visibly Brighter™  products and used the treatment right before the photos. My favorite thing about this product is not just that it gradually lightens the hair so you never see a drastic change that you won’t like. Over time, you’ll see a subtle change in color. By the second wash, I had big improvement in my hair’s condition. My hair is more shiny and soft when I use the Visibly Brighter™ Shampoo & Visibly Brighter™ Conditioner which means that I’ll definitely continue to use the line. Here’s the before and after comparison of my hair.

I usually let my hair air-dry after every wash to prevent excess damage from heat, but when I want to style it for a special occasion (or just because I want to feel pretty,) I tend to create soft/romantic curls with a curling iron or I’ll try an edgy/ “cool mom” look by using the flat iron. Follow along in the photos below or scroll down to watch the video of how I style my short hair.

Hairstyle 1: Soft & Romantic Curls Style

curls1-cc

Start at the front taking small sections and with the wand facing down, wrap the hair in a backwards motion. Hold for 6 seconds and let go. Be careful not to burn your fingers and (if necessary) use a styling glove.

By wrapping the hair in a backwards motion against the wand, you’ll achieve a more appealing and consistent look. Focus on the top section and also create a few at the bottom until you’re happy with the amount of curls.

Once ready, shake up the curls a little and use a pin or some hair accessories to complement your look.

Hairstyle 2: Straight & Edgy Style

This hairstyle is the main reason why I decided to cut my hair a few months ago. To me, it just looks cool and I wanted that “cool mom” look. Hah! So after thinking that flat irons were useless when I had long hair, I had to go shopping for one.

For this style it’s best if you divide the hair into small sections and then work your way up piece-by-piece.

Place a small section of hair in between the flat iron and move the wand down until you’re at the ends.

By putting heat with the flat iron from top to bottom, you’ll achieve a very flat look and that is what we’re going for.

Style as you’d like and remember to accessorize.

Check out this video where I recorded myself doing both hairstyles.
